Between the destructive forces of nature and the destructive forces of man, there is a current focus on security and protection for office buildings, government buildings, schools and private residences.  Windows, quite obviously, are particularly vulnerable to these forces.  Allied Window can provide a variety of glazing and product options to increase the level of protection for the window itself, as well as the people and materials inside the building.

The mere presence of an exterior storm window provides added life to existing sash, the paint finish and historic glass.  All of our exterior models can provide this important protection.

Protection from wind storms or vandalism is typically provided by our Allied One Lite (AOL), the Monumental Allied One Lite (MAOL), or even a fixed D-42 or D-48 panel.  A variety of venting options are available for stained or leaded glass, to prevent a damaging heat build-up between the storm and prime windows. Typical glazing options up to (1/4”) are:

• Tempered glass
• Laminated glass
• Polycarbonate (Lexan) –Never use for stained or leaded glass

There is an increasing focus on the need to protect building occupants from the danger of flying glass and other debris caused by windstorms, earthquakes, terrorist acts, vandalism and accidents. Our Monumental Allied One Lite (MAOL) has been designed to provide superior performance in the face if these unfortunate events. A simple D-48 fixed panel can also address this need. Typical glazing options up to (1/4”) are:

• Tempered glass
• Laminated glass
• Polycarbonate (Lexan)

Concern for the damaging effects of UV light can be addressed with special glazing such as:

Standard Colors - (5 Year Warranty)

Colors shown are an approximation and will vary with monitor and printer settings. Samples of standard colors can be requested by clicking here: (Standard Color Samples). Our standard colors are manufactured with a baked on enamel finish.
Class 1 clear anodize is included in our sample package and is available at a 5% additional charge.

Custom Color - (5 Year Warranty)

Our custom color projects are painted in our facility using a PPG (2) component polyurethane enamel which is computer-matched to color samples provided.

• Paint used is PPG Spectracron 380 Poly-Iothane HS Exterior Polyurethane - a high performing, two component high solids exterior durable polyester polyurethane enamel. It is designed to provide excellent surface protection and exterior color and glass retention.
• Typically, we receive a sample of the desired color, which is computer-matched by PPG. They provide color plate samples, which are forwarded to the Customer for approval.

Custom Color - Kynar - Equivalent - (15 Year Warranty)

When architectural specifications call for a fluoropolymer (Kynar) finish, our custom color projects are painted in our facility using a PPG fluoropolymer paint which is computer matched to color sample provided.

• Paint used is PPG CORAFLON ADS, which is a Kynar equivalent, with a finish that meets the durability criteria of AAMA 2605.
• Typically, we receive a sample of the desired color, which is computer-matched by PPG. They provide color plate samples, which are forwarded to the Customer for approval.  Kynar equivalent adds an additional 8 weeks to the lead time.

Custom Color - Large Projects - (5 year Warranty)

Our extruder provides material in a custom color.

Paint is the same baked enamel finish as our standard colors.
The paint supplier matches a color sample provided and color plates are provided for Customer approval.

Glazing Options

The standard glazing material for most of Allied Window’s products is clear double-strength (DSB) glass with a thickness of 1/8” (3mm). These products can also accept glazing materials of 5/32” (4mm).The Monumental Series can accept glazing materials of 3/16” (5mm) or 1/4” (6mm).Glass thickness is determined by factory guidelines or project specifications. Options include:

1. Interchangeable – This option allows the storm panels to be swapped with screen panels when ventilation is desired and storing space isn’t an issue.
2. Sliding – This screen option requires an additional ½” space for mounting another track between the original window and SAW Track. Allows a screen to slide left or right and remain in the unit. No Interchanging is needed.

There are a variety of options for operable storm windows for ventilation, - all of which have screens available.
